Who We Are

The Arizona Jewish Theatre Company is a non-sectarian, not for profit Professional Theatre Company. AJTC is a member of the Association for Jewish Theatre, Phoenix Community Alliance, Alliance for Audience, Local First AZ and Arizona Citizens for the Arts.

Mission Statement

AJTC produces dynamic professional theatre that reflects the Jewish experience. We celebrate the resiliency of the human spirit and the diverse nature of Jewish culture.

Impact Statement

AJTC has reached hundreds of thousands of people of all ages throughout the state of Arizona in its 20+ years in existence. It serves as an entry point to the Jewish community for many newcomers and under/unaffiliated. Jews and the arts have been inextricably joined since the beginning of time and AJTC serves as the only Jewish cultural performing arts group in the State.

Did You Know?

• AJTC is one of only a handful of professional companies in the Valley. We operate on a fraction of the budget of the larger companies; yet AJTC proudly uses many of the same actors, directors and designers you see on those other stages.
• AJTC is one of the largest Jewish Theatres in all of North America.
• As a professional company, we pay everyone involved with the production. The majority of our directors are members of the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers Union.
• AJTC receives funding from The Arizona Commission on the Arts, The Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture, The Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust, The Flinn Foundation, Wells Fargo, APS, SRP and individual supporters. AJTC is a not-for-profit organization. All donations are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law.
• As we continue to provide the highest artistic standards possible for you, our production costs continue to rise each year. Yet, we are determined to keep ticket prices affordable for all.
• In addition to our main stage work, we provide summer theatre day camps for children and teens; produce 2 children's shows each year and have an on-going teen improvisational troupe.
• AJTC is one of 9 local arts organizations that received a Federal 21st Century Community Learning Grant. Our company provided On-Camera classes to at-risk 4th and 5th graders in the Phoenix Elementary School District through the spring of 2008. 99% of the children were at or below poverty level. The students learned all aspects of acting in front of cameras and the workings behind the lens as well. Among other activities, they film a Public Service Announcement in English and Spanish for charities such as the Child Crisis Nursery and the St. Vincent DePaul Dental Clinic.
