One of 56 state and jurisdictional arts agencies, the Arizona Commission on the Arts supports a statewide arts network. The agency is governed by a 15-member Governor-appointed Commission and a professional staff grounded in the arts. Our staff includes practicing artists, skilled administrators and education specialists who serve in local and national arts leadership roles. They receive and administer funds from the State of Arizona and the National Endowment for the Arts and direct this funding to programs that contribute to the growth and stabilization of the arts, impact student learning, nurture and develop artists' craft and skills, preserve the rich traditions of Arizona communities, and encourage participation by citizens of all ages and abilities.
The Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture's Grants Program is dedicated to supporting non-profit arts and cultural organizations. The Flinn Foundation is a privately endowed, philanthropic grantmaking organization established in 1965 by Dr. Robert S. and Irene P. Today, the Foundation supports the advancement of the biosciences in Arizona, as well as two other program areas to help build Arizona's knowledge-driven economy—the Flinn Scholars Program and the arts in Arizona.

The National Endowment for the Arts was established by Congress in 1965 as an independent agency of the federal government. To date, the NEA has awarded more than $4 billion to support artistic excellence, creativity, and innovation for the benefit of individuals and communities.
