TRADITION! Nobody can do Fiddler like a Jewish Theatre! We can’t think of a more appropriate show to kick off our 20th Anniversary Season. At the turn of the last century, in the little village (shtetl) of Anatevka, Tevye, a poor dairyman, tries to instill in his five daughters the traditions of his tight-knit Jewish community. Faced with ever-present threats of pogroms from Tsarist Russia, changing social mores, intellectual ideas brought in from afar, Tevye struggles to hold on to his century-old beliefs.
The combination of humor side-by-side with tragedy is at the very heart of Jewish existence. Rich in historical and ethnic detail, Fiddler on the Roof has touched audiences around the world with its humor, warmth and honesty. Its universal themes of family, love and tradition cut across barriers of race, class, nationality and religion, making the show one of the most respected icons of the American Musical Theatre.
Fiddler on the Roof is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI)
